It was a pitcher that Yeom-ryang had been waiting for while calling out his name…Drunk driving in shock, left-hander Young-gun from '1R' blew the whole of 2025

LG Twins left-hander Lee Sang-young will not be able to play the 2025 season due to disciplinary action.

The Korea Baseball Organization (KBO) announced on the 12th that "Lee Sang-young, an LG pitcher who was caught in the police crackdown on drunk driving, was disqualified for a year," adding, "Lee Sang-young is subject to a one-year disqualification in accordance with Article 151 of the KBO Covenant because he meets the criteria for revocation of his license."메이저사이트

It was in the morning of September 14 that the problem occurred. Lee Sang-young, who was driving in Seongnam, Gyeonggi-do, hit a car that was in front of her. In the next seat was a teammate, Lee Mi-eun. Lee Sang-young, who talked to the victim after the accident, left after promising to deal with the accident later.

The victim, who suspected drunk driving, immediately reported it to 112. After the police were dispatched to the scene, Lee Sang-young's drinking test was conducted. Lee Sang-young's blood alcohol level was reported to have been at the level of revocation of his license.

As the news of Lee Sang-young's drunk driving was reported through media reports, LG's team also started to confirm the fact, and issued an apology shortly afterwards. LG said, "We reported Lee Sang-young and his fellow passenger, who caused a stir by drunk driving, to the KBO Clean Baseball Center after confirming the fact, and decided to humbly accept the disciplinary results of the KBO reward and punishment committee in the future."

More than two months have passed since the club's announcement. KBO waited for the results of a police investigation into Lee Mi-eun, a passenger. Lee Mi-eun's alleged aiding and abetting drunk driving has been cleared, and KBO has decided to impose disciplinary action only against the driver Lee Sang-young.

While accepting the KBO's decision, LG decided not to take double disciplinary action. "We will humbly accept the KBO's one-year disqualification in connection with the drunk driving case of Lee Sang-young, a member of the club, in September. We have decided to follow the KBO's recommendation to ban double disciplinary action," the club said. "The club will further strengthen team training to prevent recurrence in the future."

Lee Sang-young, who joined LG as the fifth-ranked player in the second round of the first round in 2019 after graduating from Kaesong Middle School and Busan High School, recorded a record of one win, three losses and one hold with an ERA of 4.39 in 80 innings in 38 games in the first division. In the Futures League (second division), he had 34 wins, 14 losses and two saves with an ERA of 3.77 in 379 ⅔ innings in 83 games, including when he was in Sangmu (national sports unit).

Lee Sang-young, who had high expectations even before joining the team, joined Sangmu in December 2021 and honed his skills through the Futures League. Although he did not play many games after being discharged from the military, he was one of the players included in the head coach's plan.

LG manager Yeom Kyung-yeop, who was interviewing reporters at the end of April, said, "I think we will have to hold out until April with a limited number of people. In order for the team to go back to normal, I think it should be early May when all the members I thought of will gather. (Jung) Woo-young and (Lee) Ji-gang should come in, and (Lee) Sang-young should come in. I think something will be set up as the coaching staff gives us a chance and the players we need to raise again come in," referring to Lee Sang-young's name.

In fact, Lee has a chance. After staying in the second tier for nearly three months after the opening of the season, Lee came up for the first tier team on June 16. He started three times in about two weeks, and made all five relief appearances in July.

Lee Sang-young has not been called upon by Yeom Kyung-yeop since he was removed from the first team roster on Aug. 3. However, as the expanded entry system has been in effect since Sept. 1, Lee might have had more opportunities if it had not been for drunk driving. At the time, Lee had continued to start in the Futures League. He became a winning pitcher in both games in September, and his performance was not bad.

However, Lee lost the entire 2025 season due to the wrong choice. LG, which is preparing for the 2025 season, is in a situation where it has to take the mound without Lee.
